Student Learning Assessment Reports
The assessment of student learning begins with the establishment learning outcomes as shown below. A learning outcome is the action statement of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and habits of mind that students take with them from a learning experience (Suskie, 2009). Outcomes should be clearly articulated in observable and as much as possible, measurable terms. Learning opportunities and experiences are provided so students can achieve the established outcomes. Student achievement is measured and the results are used to improve learning.
Each program (including General Education) submits an annual Student Learning Assessment (SLA) Report via Xitracs. The reports are intended to assist the faculty to:
- Track assessment results as they inform planning and decision making
- Share and showcase best practices to continuously improve student learning
- Maintain consistent records of their assessment efforts
Each program is expected to submit Section I of the SLA by October 1st and Section II of the SLA by May 31st of each academic year.
